Classroom Amplification

Classroom Amplification – Using the microphones in your classroom

This page provides best practices and instructions for classroom amplification technology. UW Bothell IT continues to assess this classroom amplification pilot.

Classroom Amplification Best Practices

  • It is recommended that faculty wear the provided lapel/lavalier microphones or use the podium microphone (if available).
  • Microphones allow you to be heard through the classroom speakers to support in person amplification. To capture vocals using Panopto or Zoom, utilize the integrated podium webcam’s microphone.
  • Utilizing the lavalier microphones, which clip to your shirt or collar, will provide the best audio experience.
  • 澳门赌场se can be cleaned between use with the wipes provided by facilities; the foam windscreens have been removed from the lavalier mics for easy cleaning.
  • Surgical masks are recommended for speaking and being heard clearly.
  • Please leave the microphones within the designated classroom. Each microphone is programmed to work in its designated location and will not function if moved to another room.
  • Turn off the microphones when not in use to conserve batteries for the next class.

Secondary Microphone Instructions & Best Practices

澳门赌场se instructions apply to classrooms with a secondary microphone installed. UWB-IT will continue to add microphones to classrooms to improve student amplification.

  • To use the secondary handheld microphones, power the microphone on and make sure the red “MIC” light is illuminated (unmuted).
  • 澳门赌场 second handheld microphone volume is controlled on the ePodium touch panel (the same as the lapel microphone provided).
  • Remember to mute the microphone after each use and to turn the microphone off at the end of class to conserve batteries.
  • Please leave the microphones within the designated classroom. Each microphone is programmed to work in its designated location and will not function if moved to another room.
  • If you need more assistance, please dial 2-3456 on the classroom phone to contact UWB IT.

Support Needs

If you need additional support with the classroom amplification technology, please call UWB IT (2-3456 from any campus phone) for immediate support or email uwbit@uw.edu to schedule an orientation for the classroom podium and microphones.
