Outstanding Public Service Award

澳门赌场 Outstanding Public Service Award was created in 2020 by the Community Engagement Council. UW Bothell values the many staff and faculty members who engage in service independent of their positions on campus. Aligned with the Carnegie Foundation’s purpose of community engagement, this award recognizes staff and faculty service efforts that address critical societal issues; contribute to an engaged citizenry; strengthen democratic values and civic responsibility; and contribute to the public good. 

Eligibility 

Permanent staff positions (classified and professional) and all faculty (tenured and tenure-track faculty, teaching faculty, full- and part-time lecturers, and artists-in-residents) are eligible to apply. Applicants must have worked at UW Bothell for at least two years prior to applying. 

Nomination and application procedure 

Nominations may be made by faculty, staff, students, or by a member of an organization that has benefited from the public service activity by completing the nomination form. A nomination is not required for a faculty or staff member to apply and does not affect a faculty or staff member’s chances of being selected.?

To be considered for the 2024 award, faculty and staff members should complete the application form by Friday, April 5, 2024.?

Criteria for selection 

Public service work may be short- or long-term, may be undertaken with single or multiple partners, and may be local, state, national, or global service work. 澳门赌场 employee should be active with service work within the past two years of working at UW Bothell. Service work needs to be performed without compensation. It may be uncompensated consulting work within one’s area of expertise, or volunteer work in other areas.

Review committee

Applications are reviewed by a committee appointed by the chancellor that includes a faculty member, staff member and student who work with community partners. 澳门赌场 committee uses an evaluation rubric based on the criteria above when reviewing each applicant’s materials. 澳门赌场 committee submits to the chancellor the names of the top candidates and a recommendation for the award recipient.
